Medical Coding & Billing Specialist

About This Role

As a Medical Coding & Billing Specialist at TasklyAfrica, you will assign accurate medical codes to patient records, process insurance claims, and ensure billing compliance for U.S. healthcare providers. You will work with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
• Process and submit insurance claims to payers
• Follow up on denied or rejected claims and resolve billing discrepancies
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and payer-specific guidelines
• Maintain accurate patient records and billing documentation
• Communicate with healthcare providers regarding coding queries
• Stay current with coding updates, regulations, and industry standards

Requirements

• 1+ years of medical coding and/or billing experience
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems
• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Experience with EHR/EMR systems and billing software
• Understanding of HIPAA compliance and healthcare regulations
• CPC, CCS, or equivalent coding certification preferred
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
